Tammy Hanratty: Musings of a creative life

A letter to my son

A letter to my son

My dearest Kaden,

Every day you inspire me, encourage me and teach me. Through your tenderness I have learned how to fall and how to sing, how to love more and laugh more. I have learned, that by falling into grace & opening to love deeper that my soul becomes nourished. Your beauty and light shine even in moments of challenge, as we stumble and fall, picking each other up to repair and heal, moving forward through love. Together, we grow, teaching and learning the lessons of love and life. I could not imagine walking this journey without your love, light and inspiration. You guide me into the present and into the beauty of simplicity. A true definition of hero, so brave and courageous, so loving and tender.

“It’s the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.
It’s the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.
It’s the one who won’t be taken,
Who cannot seem to give,
And the soul afraid of dyin’
That never learns to live.” – Bette Midler

Thank you Kaden, for showing me how to open, to fall, to heal, to hurt and live and love fully! As your birthday approaches I reflect on the fragility of time and am amazed by the passing of 4 years. I hold so closely your presence in my heart, as you walk more and more on your own path. May your journey be filled with all the love that you are! Blessings to you dear Kaden. xo
